Be a Volunteer!

The Museum can use your skills! The Canadian Fire Fighters Museum is a volunteer run organization and as such needs to enlist the help of people who are willing to lend some time and expertise during the museum’s operating season — roughly from May to October. We are always on the lookout for volunteers with skills in the following areas:

Volunteer Coordinator – Volunteer Coordinators will provide support for the operations of the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum through the recruitment and management of volunteers and the volunteer program. more information >>

Collections – Volunteers will work under the guidance of the Curator. Volunteers may support the work with our permanent collection on research, conservation, documentation, storage of artifacts, development and maintenance of exhibits. more information >>

Docents –Volunteers will conduct guided tours of the Museum for groups of students and adults.  Utilizing the techniques of dialogue and inquiry, role play and storytelling. Docents assist in the development of educational programs and conduct special activities for students, adults and families. more information >> 

Education –  Volunteers will support the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum to bring its mission to life by bringing the Museum collection to life by engaging visitors and program participants through educational interactions. more information >>

Fundraising – Volunteers will support the museum in increasing the reach and scale of all programming and the continued growth of the organization. Responsible for a wide variety of fund development, communications and administrative activities, volunteers will need to be committed, flexible and able to work on their own initiative. more information >>

Maintenance – Volunteers will provide support for the ongoing operations of the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum through the cleaning and upkeep of its building, grounds and physical systems to maintain the highest level of professionalism and visitor service as possible. more information >>

Public Relations – Volunteers will work to increase public awareness about the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum and programs. They will assist in expanding its community “stakeholders,” by presenting its assets clearly through well designed promotional materials, and development of an overall publicity campaign plan. more information >>

Reception –  Volunteers will provide administrative support for the ongoing operations of the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum. more information >>

Special Events – Volunteers will support Special Events and activities that will help raise the profile of the organization and funds for the services offered. more information >>
