Hamilton Fire Department, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada





This 1926 Bickle - Ahrens - Fox model No. NS-4 Serial number 1671 is owned and operated by the "BOX 43 ASSOCIATION" of Hamilton, Ontario Canada.

This unit ran as front line pumper # 4 from 1926 until 1956 from the old Victoria Ave. Fire Hall in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1956 it was converted into a deluge pumper and was in use until 1974.
Box 43 Association acquired the pumper in 1978 and completed restoration in 1981.

The 1926 Bickle - Ahrens - Fox had a Ahrens-Fox 4 cylinder piston pump with a 4.5" bore and a 6" stroke. This pump was a class B pump with a capacity of 840 gpm. @ 120 psi. It had two 6" intakes and four 2 1/2" discharges.


The engine is an Ahrens-Fox 6 cylinder, dual ignition,  "T" head with a 5.5" bore and a 7" stroke. The cylinder displacement is 998 cubic inches which develops 110 horse power.

The pump, engine, and chassis was built in Cincinnati, Ohio and the rest of the truck was built in Woodstock, Ontario. At a cost of $14,950 it was one of only 4 built in Canada, with 3 going to the Hamilton Fire Department and 1 going to the Kingston Fire Department.

This unit, now operated by the Box 43 Association,
Hamilton-Wentworth Region, was one of three delivered to Hamilton.
