Join us in creating an even better
Canadian Fire Fighters Museum!
We need your support! The Museum has far out-grown its current space and much of the collection has to be in storage elsewhere. Further exacerbating the problem, the leaky, drafty old Port Hope town sheds, where the Museum is currently located, are visually unimpressive and must be demolished in two years time. The Museum needs a new home. Thus, looking to the future, there is a real need for a more permanent facility, possibly located in the vacant, turn of the century industrial buildings on Port Hope’s historic Centre Pier. (see our vision)
To do this, the Museum needs the support of fire fighters and buffs from across the country. With the proposed expansion into a renovated historic industrial building on the Centre Pier, the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum will be able to tell the story of fire fighting in Canada in a manner that the subject so richly deserves. There will be an opportunity to display not only land-based fire fighting equipment but fire fighting aircraft and watercraft as well—and in a facility that can be open 365 days a year in all kinds of weather.
We plan to create a display hall and a facility where visitors can get an indepth understanding of the role that fire fighting and fire fighters have played in the building of Canada. There will be displays of the vehicles and apparatus used as well as tribute displays of fire fighting heros and a memorial to those who have fallen in the course opf their duties. We will have an educational facility for children so that they can know and appreciate fire safety and its history.
Will you help build Canada's National Fire Fighting Museum to the level it deserves? Help us to preserve the fire fighting heritage of Canada. It is through grants, donations, and support from people like yourself that we keep the museum operating. Please send us a donation for membership. We gratefully accept donations to help develop displays, upgrade facilities, maintain apparatus, and promote our various activities and events. Donations of cash and artifacts with a value over $20.00 will receive a TAX RECEIPT and a momento from the Museum.
